About This Role
Luxury resorts in Far North Queensland face a severe chef shortage and regularly sponsor qualified overseas chefs through the 482 visa. A trade qualification (Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent) and 3+ years post-qualification experience are required. This regional role qualifies for the 494 visa and comes with accommodation, meals, and a clear tourism sector PR pathway.
Sponsorship Intelligence
Eligible Visa Pathways
Subclass 482 (Temporary Skills Shortage) allows employers to sponsor overseas workers for up to 4 years. It is the most common sponsorship visa and can lead to permanent residency via the 186 ENS visa.
Subclass 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional) is for regional areas. After 3 years of work, holders can apply for the permanent 191 visa.
Regional roles open access to the 494 visa, Subclass 491, and state nomination programs — all with lower points thresholds and faster PR pathways than metro equivalents.
